The statistics under this subsection gives the number of road traffic crashes that are recorded by category per year.

Minor accident: Is an accident where no person was injured

Serious accident: Is an accident where a person is admitted in hospital as an “in-patient” or has the following injuries whether the person is admitted or not; fractures, internal injuries, burns, severe cuts, lacerations or severe shock requiring medical attention.

Fatal accident: Is an accident where death occurs at the scene of the accident and within one year and one day as a result of the injuries sustained in the accident

Statistics indicate that the total road traffic crashes reduced by 33.8% from 18,495 crashes in 2015 to 12,249 crashes in 2020 but increased by42.4%(5,194 crushes) in 2021 to 17,443 Most crashes each year are in the serious category
